It was the tiniest thing I ever decided to put my whole life into.
—Terri Guillemets, 1986 April 11th
Many people have used this quote over the years referring to a newborn or yet-to-be-born baby. And that’s fine with me. But for those who are truly curious about the original context, I wrote this in my diary during a time when I was trying to nurse a sick baby bird back to health in my parents’ yard.
This was my first quote that went big-time, in 2005. It’s been used most famously by Anne Geddes in her Cherished Thoughts with Love and by David Ellwand in his Baby Unique book.
